3 Things I Learned from Failure & Eminem...
There have been times in my life that forced me to grow and examine my relationship with failure. Sitting with this fear and doubt, made me realize that this belief of inadequacy originated from childhood experiences. Perhaps it was hearing the backlash after failing an exam or losing a tennis match that created this mindset of feeling less than others. Reflecting back on these moments, I realized that this is where the fear of failure starts to mold our experiences as we enter adulthood.
I listened to a lot of Eminem as I moved through the shadows, working to release this fear that once held me back. His lyrics taught me to dig deep and to take hold of the opportunities that are given in this lifetime because as we all know life is very short and is never guaranteed. We need to learn how to build a relationship with fear because that's when courage is created. To help you start creating this new belief, I've provided three lyrics from various Eminem songs that will remind you of your inner strength, power, and purpose.
"But you have to search within you, to find that inner strength and get that motivation to not give up, to not be a quitter no matter how bad you want to just fall flat on your face and collapse"- Strength is found when we are at our lowest, sitting in the shadows of the night. It is in these moments that we remember the darkest hour is right before dawn. Push through, the sun is awaiting your arrival. (Till I Collapse)
"I'm going to be what I set out to be, without a doubt, undoubtedly"- At some point in our lives, we choose to let go of what society thinks we should be and become who we are. When we accept who we are, the fear that once controlled us falls at our feet as we walk towards strength. (Not Afraid)
"If you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything in one moment would you capture it, or just let it slip?"-When life calls you to take the ride, you find the courage within to accept the invitation. This ride will have some unexcepted twists and turns but you learn, that is the adventure of the unknown. All we are called to do is accept the invite, get on the ride, and experience the journey. (Lose Yourself)
